Uncategorized I stumbled upon the master cleanse program while looking for more info on fasting, it appears to be a very popular one and is considered pretty solid. Some of you may remember it as the same ‘diet’ Beyonce used to lose a few pounds for Dreamgirls.
Reports of other’s experiences were very encouraging to me and gave me an idea of what to expect. I contacted a few people about thier experiences with the master cleanse and some did not get past day 2 or 3 which appears to be where most stumble. As most fasts require not eating I have never been able to stick with it for more than a day. Technically, being a juice fast the master cleanse does offer some sustenance (the lemonade drink used for the cleanse is also why it is called the lemonade diet by some.)
The Master Cleanse follows a simple routine, however it isn’t exactly easy. Though the guidelines are few, the will power necessary to succeed is another thing altogether. Luckily I came across a book (master cleanse secrets) that gives you lots of tips and tricks to make the master cleanse a much smaller challenge.
One thing touted is the weight loss from the diet but that was never my main concern. I am looking to get the toxin cleansing that it was originally created for. I felt really tired and sluggish lately and enough people have told me how much better they feel after a fast that I went for it once more.
The original book states to spend 10 days on the cleansing program, though I’ve heard of people staying on it longer. Like 20+ days long.. I decided to commit to only 5 days to see how I reacted. Having never gotten past 48 hours in the past I am proud of my trial.
I have to give credit to the secrets book. It was a great resource that kept me going when I hit a sticking point . Knowing it was there with answers gave me a lot more confidence going into the cleanse. That confidence translated into success.
Luckily I went to see my doctor for a check-up recently so the timing was good. If you are thinking of trying this or any kind of fast you should definitely clear things with your doctor first. It’s your health don’t play games.
The final verdict: I feel much better after the 5 days and I am considering doing it again. Next time I will shoot for the full ten days. One suggestion I can offer is to take it easy when trasnitioning back into eating (the secrets book gives excellent guidance on this.)

Uncategorized Starting to paint watercolor may be weird and trying at first, more so if one is use to more opaque mediums. Since watercolor is transparent you must decide from the very beginning where the areas of white will be in your painting. I’ve gotten a lot of information from reading on the Arts and Music In Depth Blog. If anyone is new at this like me, a good (maybe the best) overview I’ve seen is at http://www.johnlovett.com/beginer.htm.
For me, one of the best tips given is:
“Your drawing will look better if the most interesting part ( called the centre of interest ) is not placed along either of the pages centre lines. The strongest tonal ( light / dark ) contrast should be placed at the centre of interest. Have some areas of the drawing less detailed than others. Try and keep most of the detail in the area of the centre of interest.
“To gain confidence, practice drawing on large sheets of cheap paper with a soft (5B or 6B) pencil, charcoal, or pastel pencil. Stand up, work on a vertical surface (or surface at right angles to your line of vision) and move your arm from the shoulder. Work from large and bold to fine and detailed. Only the final finishing off needs to be done with small, tight hand movements.”
I’m afraid my talent is quite lacking, but I’m going to give it my best! They say that practice makes perfect, and I believe that is true. But free time for practice is an essential element that I have very little of. Perhaps I need to enroll in a course in ‘time management’. If only I had time to take the course! Of course I’ll keep watching the Arts and Music In Depth Blog for any other info I can use.
There is one question that I can’t seem to find the answer to - can I use oil and/or acrylic brushes to do watercolors? I know that brushes are packaged for different uses. However, it seems to me that for all practical purposes one could use those other brushes for watercolors. But perhaps I am missing something something, so I’ll keep searching for a definitive answer. Wish me luck!

For dog agility training aids that are available are e.g. anti bark collars. Many dogs have a problem when they do dog agility. They start barking constantly basically because of the hype involved. Anti bark collars do one of two things or sometimes both, they give a small electric charge when your dog barks and spray some water up into their face. People may think this is cruel but it is completely harmless. It just lets your dog know that barking is not acceptable. These collars are available at pet shops and on the internet and are not too expensive.
For dog obedience some dog training aids that are available are dog clickers, the newest craze out on the market which allows owners instead of associating sit with a word they use a click instead and reward with treats, no punishment allowed.
